Good people,
because of the disaster in Haiti haben wir uns spontan zusammengetan, um eine direkte Spendenaktion ins Leben zu rufen.
Als Österreichisch-Dominikanische Gesellschaft haben wir über 15 Jahre mit der dominiko-haitianischen Frauenorganisation MUDHA zusammengearbeitet, die ihr Hauptquartier in Santo Domingo (Dominikanische Republik) hat.
Die Leiterin von MUDHA, Sonia Pierre , ist eine international bekannte Menschenrechtsaktivistin. Wir sind laufend in Kontakt mit Sonia Pierre. Auch sie hat Verwandte beim Erdbeben verloren.
Dominikanische NGOs sind vor Ort in Haiti
In der Dominikanischen Republik (dem Nachbarland Haitis) haben sich mehrere NGOs zu einem Netzwerk zusammengeschlossen, das sofort nach dem Erdbeben has been active in Haiti - including MUDHA.
A team of 70 people is on location to build structures in the makeshift camps, including Sonia Pierre itself, many doctors, nurses, psychologists and many young assistants who speak Kreyol, can then communicate with the people there.

As we learned from Sonia, they care for including the children from an orphanage in Leogane, west of Port au Prince, which destroys wurde. Dort waren an die 300 Kinder untergebracht.

Erfahrung mit Krisensituationen
Wir haben MUDHA bereits in anderen Katastrophenfällen (z.B. Hurrikan George) unterstützt. Die Organisation hat Erfahrung mit aktuer Nothilfe, der psychosozialen Care for traumatized victims, and particularly with reconstruction.
